Fields of Interest

  • My work is concerned with the development of user-friendly human-robot interfaces. In my research, I emphasize the use of imitation learning, speech and gesture-based communication to induce natural means of human-robot interaction. This research is at core interdisciplinary, building a bridge between Engineering, Computer Sciences and Biology. We combine a wide range of Engineering and Signal Processing methods for the development of adaptive control systems to enable flexible human-robot interactions. The emphasis is given on the acquisition of complex motor skills, on the interpretation and recognition of gestures, and on the acquisition and interpretation of verbal and non verbal communication. The lab has a particular interest in embedded systems and develops sets of miniature robots for use in educational set-ups, as well as in therapeutic applications with disabled children.
