WearCam

Consisting in two cameras and two microphones mounted on a headband, the WearCam records what the wearer is looking at and what he hears. This data can then be used to locate the direction of the wearer's gaze and to detect which elements he's focusing on (faces, objects, shapes), aswell as to have an idea of the head movements. On the audio part it is also possible to know the direction of the sounds that the wearer hears and to perform som keyword recognition. This enables us to know when the child is paying attention to, say, a person speaking to him, or where he's looking at when he performs specific operations (e.g. manipulating certains objects).

The WearCam is currently used in a ongoing collaboration with the Lausanne University Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University Hospital of Canton de Vaud (CHUV), and the Service of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Department of Child and Adolescent Medicine of the University Hospital of Geneva (HUG), for investigating gaze peculiarities of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
