WearCam
The WearCam is being developed as part of the TACT project, a research project financed by the European Union's NEST-Adventure Program. The TACT project aims at developing non-obtrusive, user-friendly technological aids and methods allowing the extraction of more information from infant movement than is currently possible. On this scope, the WearCam allows to obtain a visual feedback from infant point of view which can be used to locate the directions of his attention.
Consisting in a wireless camera coupled with a head mount, the WearCam records what the child is looking at. This data can then be used to locate the direction of the child's gaze and to detect which elements he's focusing on (faces, objects, shapes), aswell as to have an idea of the head movements. This enables us to know when the child is paying attention to, say, a person speaking to him, or where he's looking at when he performs specific operations (e.g. manipulating certains objects)
